Welcome to Ligon GT Magnet Middle's MSEN PIE Club! We are the Parents Involved for Excellence (PIE) Club. As a booster club for the elective, our support is vital to student success!
About MSEN Ligon is one of two middle schools to offer a year-long elective focused entirely on STEM activities and college preparation. Our school program is a part of the statewide NC-MSEN program, and our regional office operates on the campus of NCSU where students have the opportunities to enhance their STEM skills. Our regional office provides additional enrichment programs in the form of Saturday Academy sessions, where students learn about career opportunities, enhance their math skills, as well as learn about robotics, computer programming, and even the stock market. Learn more about the regional office by going to their web page at NCSU MSEN Pre-College Program.
About PIE Club MSEN students at Ligon participate in math, science, engineering, and technology enrichment activities through an elective. They also participate in extracurricular activities. Students have attended the Disney Youth Educational Series/Disney Youth Program field trip, where they received training in applied sciences, as well as opportunities to enhance teamwork and critical thinking skills. They have also visited college campuses and local museums. Parental support has been fundamental to providing quality activities outside of the classroom experience. What we do:
We attend monthly meetings to stay abreast of events held by the NCSU MSEN office as well as events connected to the MSEN elective at Ligon. Meetings are every second Thursday of the month.
We support Ligon's MSEN program by sponsoring fundraisers to raise money for student activities. Fundraisers have included an Applebee's flapjack breakfast, Krispy Kreme donut certificates, a skating night, and selling concessions at NCSU MSEN and Ligon events.
We volunteer at fundraising events and student activities.
We support our faculty advisors with Ligon MSEN events.
